Quality Matters

As mothers, we all want the very best for our kids. That means we want high-quality products that are safe and effective. With Young Living, you can rest assured that you’re getting a quality product made with the highest quality essentials oils and other naturally-derived ingredients.

Check out some of the strict guidelines they abide by to fulfill their promise in sending only the best products to your home.

  • plant material that is grown on corporately-owned farms or carefully vetted partner farms (that you CAN visit!)

  • sustainable farming and sourcing practices, providing the purest oil

  • great care taken to preserve and protect natural resources

  • hand-weeded fields and ZERO use of pesticides

  • oils that retain all their natural constituents and therapeutic properties

  • use of food-grade distillers with state-of-the-art design and distillation methods

  • low pressure and low temperature distillation, without the use of solvents or synthetic chemicals

  • rigorous testing on each batch by internal labs and third-party facilities

  • oils that are carefully reviewed through every step of production in order to meet or exceed industry safety and purity standards (beyond organic!)

And the best part… if the oils do not meet these high standards they are rejected and will not be bottled as a Young Living product. Check out more info on their Seed to Seal promise at www.seedtoseal.com.

Usage + Safety

AROMATICALLY: Put 6-8 drops of an oil or a combo of oils in your diffuser. The diffuser will send the oil into the air and fill the room with your essential oils.

TOPICALLY: Apply essential oils to your skin. Diluting first is recommended. A conservative dilution would one drop of essential oil with 10-15 drops of coconut, grape seed, or almond oil and then apply it to your skin. Citrus oils like Lemon are photosensitive. Please avoid sun exposure for 12 hours after application to areas where you have applied citrus oils topically. Avoid putting essentials oils in the eyes or ears directly.

INTERNALLY: Young Living oils are pure and are labeled as Generally Regarded as Safe by the Food and Drug Administration. Because of their purity, some people like to ingest their oils to avoid "smelling" like an oil, or to support their body from the inside out.

Diluting for Children + Infants

Essentials oils are more than safe to use on your kiddos but dilution is key! To dilute, you are going to use a carrier oil.

Carrier Oils:

Many love Young Living’s V6 oil for a carrier oil, but oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, or grape seed oil will work just as well and are safe for all ages. Note: if your child has nut allergies choose a carrier they are not allergic to.

Conservative dilution ratios for kids:

  • For children 2-5 years: 1 drop essential oil in 1-2 tsp V6 or carrier oil of choice

  • For babies under 2 years: 1 drop essential oil in 1 TBSP V6 or carrier oil of choice

Oils to Avoid

Some women choose to avoid excessive use of a few specific oils. However, there are no hard and fast rules. As with use in non-pregnant individuals, essential oil usage is individualized—just be sure you’re following label directions.

During Pregnancy:

Basil, Birch, Calamus, Cassia, Cinnamon Bark, Clary Sage (can be used during labor), Hyssop, Idaho Tansy, Lavindin (this is different than Lavender), Rosemary, Sage, Tarragon, and Wintergreen

For Babies:

Eucalyptus, Basil, Juniper, Peppermint, Hyssop, and Wintergreen.

For Toddlers and Young Children 2-5:

Please dilute and start slow! Be particularly careful of “hot” oils such as Clove, Oregano, and Thieves. Hot oils cause a warm tingly sensation to the skin. Applying without dilution can cause redness and irritation to the skin, which can be uncomfortable.
